Emergency Planning

Working smoke detectors should be mounted on the ceiling on every level of your home.

Certification rules require at least one carbon monoxide detector to be installed in your home. A new WI law took effect 2/1/11 that requires all one or two family dwellings to have a working carbon monoxide detector installed in the basement and on each level of the building excluding the attic and the garage. This law can be found in 2009 Wisconsin Act 158.

A written emergency evacuation plan should be in place.

Exits should be kept unblocked and free of clutter.

The first aid kit is easily accessible. Other suggested emergency items could include flashlights and fire extinguisher.

Emergency phone numbers posted by the phone should include 911, poison control and your phone number and address.
