Individuals exhibiting the following symptoms may not participate in a Play and Learn group the day the symptoms are evident.
- Fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher (99 degrees Fahrenheit or higher for children under the age of 4 months)
- Vomiting, diarrhea or severe nausea (within a 24 hour period)
- Rashes or patches of broken skin
An individual who has or had a communicable disease under HFS 145 may not be admitted to the Play and Learn group unless a statement is provided from a physician that the condition is no longer contagious or the individual has been absent for a period of time equal to the longest incubation period for the disease as specified by the Department of Health Services. All communicable diseases are reported to the local public health officer. Examples of communicable diseases include but are not limited to:
- Chicken Pox
- German Measles
- Scarlet Fever
- Infectious Hepatitis
- Meningitis • Measles
- H1N1 Virus (swine flu)5
If the school district in which the Play and Learn group is held has closed schools, that specific Play and Learn group will also be closed.
If Madison Public Schools close, all Play and Learn groups will be closed.
Occasionally, play groups may be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. If the cancellation is planned it will be noted on your monthly Play and Learn calendar. Updates will be placed on the Facebook page and on the 4-C website.
