    The American Heart Association has updated and improved its curriculum to reduce the number of hours needed for Full (New) Certification. Therefore, all classes are appropriate for new certification and renewal.     This Pediatric First Aid Course will provide basic First Aid knowledge for Teachers, Parents, Child Care Workers, Grandparents or anyone who is involved with child care. This American Red Cross First Aid course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes of an incident while waiting for professional help to arrive. Course content includes general principles of First Aid, medical, injury, and environmental emergencies, asthma, and AED. Upon successful completion of this program, a 2 year Certification from the American Red Cross will be issued to each attendee.

At the end of the presentation the participant will be able to help reduce the risk of SIDS through consistent implementation of risk reduction strategies and increase awareness of SIDS in the community.

    This new curriculum was developed by staff at the Children’s Trust Fund to address the new law requiring training on Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS). In this interactive training, we will define SBS, look at risk factors for victims and perpetrators, and explore ways to reduce stress of caregivers and ways to calm a crying baby. This class meets the training requirements and is approved by The Department of Health and Family Services (for Licensing) and the Department of Workforce Development (for Certification)
