KidsFirst
In spring of 2004 Governor Doyle announced his new agenda called "KidsFirst: the Governor's Plan to Invest in Wisconsin's Future." The cornerstone of this agenda is the "Quality Counts for Kids" initiative.
The Task Force was established by the Department of Workforce Development in May to begin the development of the Quality Counts initiative that will provide a rating and incentive program for child care programs across Wisconsin. The Task Force has been meeting regularly since their first meeting on June 21, 2004. They have heard a variety of presentations on topics relevant to this project and have began to work on the development of a rating system. It is no small task to determine what information will be used that reflects quality, what the system will look like and how the information will ultimately be made available to parents.
